The history of the Frescobaldi family starts over a thousand years ago and is closely connected with the history of Tuscany. At the high point of medieval Florence, the Frescobaldis spread their influence as bankers, earning the title of treasures to the English crown. The Frescobaldi family continues to develop and celebrate the diversity of Tuscany, with each of their six estates representing this diversity by being located in the most suitable areas for the production of fine wines. Tenuta Ammiraglia and its wines are meant to represent a Mediterranean Tuscany, facing the sea in search of new horizons.
Alìe, the namesake to this wine, is a fabled sea nymph - a symbol of sensuality and beauty. The 2017 is a refined and elegant wine characterized by its pale rosé color and subtle peach highlights. It is a stylish, beautifully-balanced blend of Syrah and Vermentino (varieties that express their finest qualities when grown near the sea). Scents of spring wildflowers, wild strawberries, and citrus peel combine with a tasty vein of earthy minerality, classic to this growing area, that supports a delicate structure and infuses a lengthy, complex finish. Alìe makes an enchanting apèritif wine, but also partners beautifully with smoked fish (particularly salmon), prosciutto, lighter meats, poultry and well-spiced dishes, like in Asian cuisines.
